About the event
Full closet but still nothing to wear? Small holes in your favorite clothes or just too many boring pieces? In the NoSweat(Work)Shop you get inspiration to creatively mend and change - or just make a few pieces into something different? The old sweater you love, but which is no longer chic, becomes a hood, the boring chope becomes a cheeky sweater, grandma's pleated sweater becomes a pantalon...
The workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to make their clothing consumption sustainable and is fascinated by new from old - but doesn't quite know how or where to start. There are several simple models available as examples. You can bring vague ideas or projects you've started but don't quite know how to proceed... or just empty your drawer and use the workshop to mend with relish. The "worry clothes" you bring with you will be refreshed and repaired or serve as starting material for new creations. We will also have clothes from the Walk-in Closet collection on site, which you can use to complement what you have brought along. Sewing skills are not necessary (but an advantage).
Together Eva and Corinna (two experienced upcycling & repair artists) will discuss your ideas / brought projects and show different, simple implementations. Those who already have some experience or prefer to start right away with mending are free to begin. With the others we will briefly go through the projects one by one and develop an implementation plan. This way, everyone gets lots of ideas and tricks. For upcycling it is helpful if you don't bring the precious heirloom from your grandma for the beginning, but something your heart is not so attached to, so the first cut is easier (the first cut is the deepest ...) A longer break is planned in the half time. Bring what you need for it. After that, the machines will be rattling away. The started pieces can then be finished alone at home or in the No Sweatshop. There is also the possibility to continue working at the Dynamo at the normal rates.
The workshop is organized in cooperation with NoSweatshop and Transition Zurich, in partnership with Fashion Revolution Switzerland, prèt- à -reporter, One Planet Lab and Romy Hood.
